RANDOLPH, NJ- The Randolph YMCA, a long-time destination for quality day camps for children, is expanding its summer programming with sports camps and clinics for various age groups.

Basketball Camp with Y Coaches Mo and Brenda will build and sharpen skills during three weekly sessions offered June 27 to July 1; July 11 to July 15 and July 25 to July 29. Half day sessions for 8 to 12 year olds will be held from 9:00 a.m. to noon while 13 to 17 year olds can participate in afternoon sessions held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Thinking of becoming a lifeguard? Junior Lifeguarding Camp will give a preview of what it takes to become a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard. The camp will be held during the week of July 18 to July 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Swim Fit Clinic, held August 1 to August 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., will focuses on mental, technical, and physical fitness in one of the world's greatest lifetime sports.

Healthy fun that builds self-esteem is emphasized in Youth Summer Fitness Classes. Instructors will lead 9 to 13 year olds with strength, flexibility and coordination training in a group setting. Weekly sessions are held July 10 through August 26 from 4:30p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Summer Sports Clinics will consist of individualized workouts based on the individual sport but will focus on Strength Training, Agility, Acceleration and Power; this camp will be held in the weight room.
 



Individual (one-on-one) and Small Group Training (3 participants to one coach) sport-specific training will be led by an experienced Y Coach. Seven to 17 year olds may train in basketball; Lacrosse training is designed for 7 to twelve year olds, Wrestling training is available for 5 to 12 year olds and Pickleball training is available to 7 to 15 year olds. This program works on agility and endurance.

Summer sports camps and clinics are open to Randolph YMCA members and non-members.

Youth Fitness and Conditioning is open to YMCA full members only ages 12 and 13, so they can use the weight, cardio, and functional equipment in the cardio room and weight/track area. Certified AFAA trainers explain proper exercise form, sequence and duration. Cardio room & weight area minimum age WITHOUT youth fitness and Conditioning is 14.

In addition to specialty camps and clinics, the Y continues their goal of kids having fun in a safe environment with traditional day camps.

We, Me, You Summer Fun Club for children ages three to five is available with full and half day options.

Camp Wide Horizons is for children entering first through fourth grades and is held at the Y in Randolph. Campers will enjoy sports, gymnastics, crafts, music and science. Swimming lessons are provided three days a week.

Youth Adventure Camp for campers entering fifth through tenth grades will be held at Hedden Park with swimming two times per week at the Randolph YMCA. Campers will learn the values of diversity while having fun in a supervised, caring environment. In addition to arts and crafts, hiking, games and sports, campers with enjoy two field trips per week.

High Schoolers in ninth and tenth grades can become part of the Counselor-in-training program, where they will learn to be camp counselors.
